Primal Scream and New Order singer Denise Johnson are being auctioned off by the Music Venue Trust (MVT).Johnson died suddenly in July 2020 at the age of 56 from natural causes.At her funeral last summer, Johnson’s family asked for donations in lieu of flowers to be made to MVT, a cause that the singer had supported vocally on her social media accounts.

Simon Gallup has seemingly confirmed that he has re-joined The Cure.Back in August, bassist Gallup said he left the band “with a slightly heavy heart,” writing that he’s “fed up of betrayal.”Gallup joined the band in 1979 following a stint playing in Robert Smith’s side-project Cult Hero. After leaving the band in 1982, he rejoined in 1984, and is The Cure’s second longest-serving member behind Smith.“With a slightly heavy heart I am no longer a member of the Cure!” Gallup wrote in a public post on his personal Facebook account last night (August 14).

Joy Division‘s ‘Unknown Pleasures’ has been turned into a climate mural to raise funds for Music Declares Emergency’s No Music On A Dead Planet.The sleeve was originally based on an image of radio waves from pulsar CP 1919, but it now shows the waves as flat and lifeless to “symbolise the eternal silence of a dead planet”.The work in Withington, in Manchester is part of a wider campaign calling for “urgent action on climate” ahead of the COP26 UN Climate Conference in Glasgow.It is close to a mural of Saville himself and footballer Marcus Rashford.It comes after MDE launched a t-shirt campaign earlier this year with the logo.

Johnny Marr releases his new EP ‘Fever Dreams Pt 1’, the guitar icon has spoken to NME about what to expect from the rest of his upcoming double album project and his hopes of reuniting with Modest Mouse.Today’s EP forms the first taster of ‘Fever Dreams Pts 1-4’ – which is due for release in February. Speaking to NME, The Smiths veteran turned solo star said that the album was made throughout lockdown around his work on the soundtrack to the new James Bond film No Time To Die with Hans Zimmer – with the time allowing him to reaffirm his role as a producer as well as songwriter and musician.“It felt like a big undertaking, and I think it sounds like a big undertaking,” he said of the upcoming record.

Kasabian singer Tom Meighan has shared a teaser of a new solo track ‘Would You Mind’ and updated fans on his upcoming plans.Meighan parted ways with the band last year, saying he was leaving the band in order to “concentrate all his energies on getting his life back on track”.
