An urgent rescue operation has been launched to evacuate nearly 50 vulnerable pensioners by boat after a retirement village was flooded by raging Storm Christoph.
Emergency services rushed to Weaver Court in Northwich, Cheshire, when it was left without any electricity or heating due to heavy flooding on Thursday morning.
Vulnerable residents, some suffering from dementia, became trapped after their homes were submerged in more than five feet of water.
