direct to your inboxThe A555 Airport Relief Road remains closed due to flooding.The dual carriageway remains shut in both directions between the Bramhall Oil Terminal to Styal Road.Stockport Council say the A555 will stay closed for at least the remainder of today (Thursday).Photographs taken this afternoon show an abandoned car partly submerged under water on one of the carriageways.The road closure follows more than 24 hours of torrential rain and flooding across the region in the wake of Storm Christoph.Around 2,000 homes and businesses in south Manchester were asked to evacuate last night with severe 'danger to life' flood warnings in place for East Didsbury, West Didsbury and Northenden, as heavy snow fell across the region.
