A tragic accident unfolded as a man lost his life when his vehicle lost control on icy roads and hit a wall. It happened just before 1 am as the cold snap from Storm Bert took hold.The 34-year-old couldn't be saved after his Renault Captur collided with a stone wall in Shipley, West Yorks.

The Bradford resident's identity has not been disclosed.Amidst continuing heavy snow, police have been persistent at the scene to investigate.A local dweller recounted the harrowing incident: "A loud crash woke me up in the middle of the night.

When I looked outside, I could see the car had spun off the road and smashed into a wall. It was freezing last night and the road can be treacherous in icy conditions.
