Stephen Colbert used most of his monologue on Tuesday to express his sadness and frustration over the lack of gun control in the U.S.
following a gunman killing 10 people in a Boulder, Colorado grocery store in the same week another gunman killed eight people in Atlanta, Georgia.
The Late Show host noted via a report that there had not been a mass shooting in a public location for a year due to the novel coronavirus pandemic. "Evidently, the only solution for America's gun violence is putting us all under house arrest," Colbert said. "This [Boulder] story is unspeakably tragic, and I cannot for one moment imagine the grief of these families and community can be approached with words alone.
