Sign up to the weekly West Lothian Courier newsletter for the latest West Lothian news and sport.Staff welcomed the reopening of the children’s ward as they celebrated St John’s Hospital‘s 31st birthday.Delighted senior staff enjoyed a socially-distanced get together to mark the 31 years since Bangour General Hospital was replaced by the new facility.The Queen opened St John’s in 1989 after it was decided in 1974 to build a new general hospital for West Lothian at Livingston.The senior staff on the children’s ward have worked tirelessly in recent years as the unit was troubled with staffing issues and consequential closures.NHS Lothian have been suffering from a staff crisis at the unit since 2012 and most recently struggled to maintain.
