A special edition fifty pence coin marking the King's coronation will go into circulation from today (August 10). Post Office and UK bank branches will receive five million pieces of the coins that celebrate Charles' coronation earlier this year.

The look of the coin was concocted by designer Natasha Jenkins. They are the second 50ps to enter circulation featuring Charles' official coin portrait.

The reverse (tails) design of the new 50p features Westminster Abbey with the King's official cypher in the centre. The heads side features the King's official coin portrait which was unveiled in September 2022.
