Spanish locals have been protesting against tourists with some in Barcelona even throwing water at holidaymakers. Naturally, people are wondering what tourists could be doing that’s bad enough to warrant this kind of backlash.
However, it seems that many people are not sticking to the six drink limit, something that is annoying the locals, with many simply wanting those visiting to respect their rules.
And it's not hard to then see why those living there are getting annoyed. Picture this: you’re trying to enjoy your Saturday afternoon and a big group of blundering tourists who’ve had a bit too much to drink, start getting loud and disruptive.
It makes for an uncomfortable situation as locals see visitors behaving in ways that feel disrespectful or inconsiderate. This is how many Spaniards feel in their neighbourhoods during peak tourist season, and they want it to stop. “Although binge drinking may be common practice in many countries, people in Spain like to take their time with drinking,” explains Christian Wolf, CEO of CW Real Estate Ibiza.
