Sleigh Bells have shared their nostalgic new single ‘Wanna Start A Band?’ and have shared details of a US tour. The eccentric track features a flurry of noise, sharp guitars and lyrics such as: “Twenty years back in vision kicks / Right around like ninety-six / All I ever cared to dream / Do you wanna start a band with me?,” reflecting on Sleigh Bells’ early days as a duo.According to a statement shared by the band, singer Alexis Krauss said: “In 2008 while eating at a restaurant in Brooklyn with my mom, our server, Derek, wasted very little time asking me, essentially, ‘Wanna Start A Band?’.
Hard to believe that almost 17 years later we are still hyped and obsessively making records together.”She continued: “Derek started messing with the riff for this song around 2014 — it needed a lot of work but a spark was there.
We had a band by then but didn’t know how long it would last. For us, this song is a reminder of how we started but it’s also the first part of a new story we want to tell — more on that very soon!”Along with ‘Wanna Start A Band?’, Sleigh Bells have also shared the details of their upcoming US tour.
The string of dates will commence on May 7 with a gig at the Crescent Ballroom in Phoenix, Arizona. From there, the duo will make their way across the US with stops in cities such as San Fransisco, Seattle, Denver, Dallas, Austin, Tampa, Orlando, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., Boston, New York, Chicago and more.
