A shop in Wigan has been forced to close for three months after illegally selling vapes to children. Traders Corner, of 22 Mesnes Street, was ordered to close for three months at Tameside Magistrates Court last week.

This came following a request made to the Civil Court from the council to close down the store. The court granted this request on July 25 and shop will now be closed for three months - the maximum amount allowed under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014. Enforcement action by Wigan Council, supported by Greater Manchester Police, has been spurred on following the motion from Coun Jenny Bullen last month wanting support for this fight.

Elected members unanimously approved the motion to support Trading Standards with their crackdown on the illegal sales of vapes to children.
