The demolition of a south Manchester GP surgery with 6,000 patients on its list - to make way for a Lidl store - is set to be confirmed.

Hawthorn Medical Centre, in Fallowfield Retail Park, now looks like it has no other option but to find a new home. It faced an uncertain future for months after the supermarket chain used permitted development rights to signal its intention to knock down the NHS surgery.
