It's late December 2004 and the survivors of the Boxing Day tsunami, one of the worst natural disasters in recorded history are finally arriving home.

Jonnie and his brother Gerard landed back in the UK on an emergency flight from Sri Lanka. After the tidal wave hit, they spent hours stranded on a roof before being rescued.

They were among the lucky ones. On December 26, 2004, a major earthquake with a magnitude of 9.2 – 9.3 struck deep in the Indian Ocean off the coast of Indonesia triggering a massive tsunami.
