Several flights have been cancelled from Manchester Airport today while some departures are experiencing delays of over an hour after runways were forced to close this morning due to “significant levels of snow”.

In a statement shared on X at 9am this morning, Manchester Airport issued an update for passengers, saying: "Our runways are closed due to significant levels of snow, as our teams work hard to clear them as quickly as possible. "The safety of our passengers is our top priority, and we appreciate your patience during this time.

Please check with your airline for the latest flight information and allow extra travel time today. We will update you as soon as possible.

Thank you." The runways have now reopened but the airport warned that passengers could experience delays due to the closure.
