A chilling message sent by a serial killer who murdered five people has finally been cracked after more than 50 years. The notorious Zodiac Killer, who was never caught after the killing spree in the late 1960s, wrote that he did not fear death in the coded letter.

He taunts investigators saying he hoped they were having "fun" trying to catch him. The cipher message was sent to the San Francisco Chronicle in 1969, but attempts to work out what it said have proved fruitless until now.

The killer terrorised the San Francisco Bay area, and claimed to have murdered 37 people in letters to newspapers - although investigators believe this claim is exaggerated.
