A stark picture of rampant underage boozing in England has been revealed by official health figures. And it is at its worst not in the inner cities but in seaside towns hit hard by austerity.
Barrow-in-Furness in Cumbria tops a list of places where kids have been admitted to A&E with drink-related problems in the past three years.
Six more coastal towns make the top ten, including South Tyneside, Torbay in Devon, and Scarborough in North Yorks. In Barrow, 45 under 18s had hospital treatment for booze, equivalent to 112 admissions per 100,000 kids, Public Health England stats show.
