Two 'suspected firearms' were uncovered on land near a river in Partington last night. Specialist police units were pictured on the scene near the Red Brook, off Oak Road, on Wednesday evening (August 28).

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said officers were called over reports that 'a suspected firearm was found' on land near Warburton Lane.

Firearms officers and search teams were scrambled to the area, with 'two suspected firearms' discovered. No further details about the suspected weapons have been released at this stage. In a statement, the force said: "We were called at 6.20pm yesterday evening (28 August 2024) to reports that a suspected firearm was located on land near Warburton Lane in Partington. "Specialist firearm officers alongside response patrols attended the scene, and two suspected firearms were recovered.
