Loose Women star Andrea McLean's blunt two-word rejection of ITV job

Andrea McLean once referred to the Loose Women panel as "shouty women" when discussing whether she would join the popular ITV show.The telly favourite, known for her role as a weather presenter on GMTV, also gained recognition filling in for Lorraine Kelly on LK Today.Despite Andrea's growing fan base, her initial response to an offer from Loose Women was less than enthusiastic, having once called them "shouty women".While chatting with Giovanna Fletcher on the Happy mum Happy Baby podcast, Andrea revealed that she was asked to join Loose Women on her first day back at GMTV after giving birth to her daughter Amy.

The mum-of-two reflected: "On the very first day I got a phone call saying 'Loose Women have been in touch would you like to work on that show'." Reflexively declining the opportunity, Andrea recounted, "My first gut reaction was no.

It was my agent that had rung me and I said 'no, absolutely not, that programme with the shouty ladies, I don't want to go on that show'."Her past experience as a guest had left her feeling terrified but the prospect of anchoring changed her mind rather than being just a panellist.Having hosted Loose Women for over a decade, Andrea departed in 2020 but is set to return to celebrate its 25-year milestone this month, at the age of 54.She went on to say: "It's obviously a brilliant show and I was there for 13 years.
