Scots couple open up on heartbreak of losing baby as they fight for fifth round of IVF

A young Scots couple have opened up on the heartbreak of losing a baby as they continue to fight to extend their family through IVF.Lauren and Jmaes Austin, both 31, were both successful on their first round of IVF in 2020.

But tragically, they lost their baby boy, Ruari Joseph Austin, who was born stillborn on December 15 that year. Lauren has told how she was "dealt the card of infertility" when doctors told her that she has polycystic ovarian syndrome and that her husband James had male factor infertility.

Since then, the couple have remained resilient in trying for a child but the second and third round were unsuccessful.The couple paid for a fourth round out of their own pocket but were again unable to conceive.

This has left the loving pair to try to raise money for a fifth round in order to realise their dream of becoming parents. Lauren, who works as an early years educator with children under five, and James, who works for the MET after a career in the army, are hoping to undergo IVF treatment for the fifth time.Lauren told Edinburgh Live: “I grew up in Edinburgh as my dad is from Glasgow and was also military.
