Scotland is home to one road that is so dangerous motorists could be charged just for driving on it.All over the country, there are many rough country roads that can be rather perilous — especially in poor weather.

However, the single-track U713 that passes through Glen Quaich in Perthshire could have them all beat. The scenic road is home to amazing views during the spring and summer, however over winter it can become very treacherous.

Conditions can get so bad, in fact, that the U713 has gained a reputation for being the most risky winter route in Scotland. As a result, Perth and Kinross Council close the road annually in winter in a process that has been "undertaken for a number of years", with the traffic order running "from October to March annually." Police on social media stated that it was "paramount that members of the public do not ignore road closure warning signs."As reported by the Scottish Daily Express, Police Scotland have warned drivers that they could be breaking the law if they choose to not to comply with the closure signs during wintry conditions.

Police stressed that by not following these rules, drivers would not only be risking their own lives, but also those of emergency services who might be sent out to rescue them — and could face a criminal record as a result. They added: "Failure to adhere to these signs is genuine risk to life if persons become stuck in snow on higher ground, not only for the occupants of the vehicle but also for members of the emergency services who are required to attend to rescue those involved.
