Broadcaster JJ Chalmers has revealed how honoured he felt when the Queen revealed she had watched him perform on Strictly Come Dancing.

John Lydon has distanced himself from the Sex Pistols after accusing them of aiming to “cash in” on the Queen’s death.In a thread shared on Twitter, Lydon’s band Public Image Ltd explained the former Pistols singer disavows any activity linked to the band’s 1977 single ‘God Save The Queen’ which has gone ahead.“John Lydon wishes to distance himself from any Sex Pistols activity which aims to cash in on Queen Elizabeth II’s death,” the statement began. “The musicians in the band and their management have approved a number of requests against John’s wishes on the basis of the majority court-ruling agreement.”Acknowledging the recent passing of Queen Elizabeth II and the potential connection to the controversial song, they continued: “In John’s view, the timing for endorsing any Sex Pistols requests for commercial gain in connection with ‘God Save The Queen’ in particular is tasteless and disrespectful to the Queen and her family at this moment in time.“John wrote the lyrics to this historical song, and while he has never supported the monarchy, he feels that the family deserves some respect in this difficult time, as would be expected for any other person or family when someone close to them has died.”John Lydon wishes to distance himself from any Sex Pistols activity which aims to cash in on Queen Elizabeth II's death.

Prince Edward and Countess Sophie were pictured greeting a large crowd who had gathered at Manchester's Central Library, where they arrived to see the Book of condolences.The royal couple chatted with as many members of the public they could as they were presented with bouquets of flowers in commiseration of the Queen's death.

The Princess Royal is visiting Scotland today, accompanied by her husband Sir Tim Laurence. She is touring the Glasgow City Chambers, one of the city's most celebrated works of architecture, and meet with representatives of organisations of which the late Queen was a patron. Anne was accompanied by her husband Sir Tim Laurence, was pictured chatting to crowds outside before reading messages left on bouquets.  This comes after Anne, 72, has taken a front-and-centre position during the preparations for her mother's funeral, appearing alongside her brothers and nephews during the coffin's procession from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall yesterday.

Queen Elizabeth II’s death.The one-day event had been scheduled to take place in Burgess Park in Camberwell, south London this Saturday (September 17).In an official statement issued earlier this week, however, organisers confirmed that Southwark Council has “withdrawn the permission” for Boiler Room London to go ahead as planned.Southwark Council is the landowner of Burgess Park and therefore has the ability to cancel events for reasons of reputation and also for public safety.“We are devastated to not be able to move forward on September 17th,” the statement continued, adding that bosses had “looked at every avenue” alongside the council in a bid to put on the event.Boiler Room London outlined the same reasons for the postponement as the now-delayed Overflo Festival, which was due to run in Burgess Park on Sunday (September 18).One issue is that London’s emergency services will no longer have the sufficient resources to support such events due to the Queen’s state funeral taking place on Monday (September 19) at Westminster Abbey.Per the statement, Southwark Council “need to be reassured” that there is enough police and ambulance resources to deal with any incident or accident that may occur at the festival.“Unfortunately all resource is being drafted in to support with the Queen’s funeral,” the message went on.Original tickets for Boiler Room London remain valid for the new date, which is set to be announced “shortly”.
