Brent Lang Executive Editor Disney pushed the opening of “Elio,” the studio’s upcoming Pixar film, by a week, while unveiling the release dates of Sam Raimi‘s “Send Help” and James L.
Brooks‘ “Ella McCay.” “Elio,” an animated science fiction adventure film, will debut on June 20. It was originally slated to open on June 13.
That means it will no longer go head-to-head with Universal and DreamWorks’ live-action remake of “How to Train Your Dragon,” which could have cannibalized its core audience of kids and families.
In its new date, it will face off against Sony’s “28 Years Later,” a zombie thriller that is pitched at older moviegoers. Those are also the crowds that will be turning up for “Send Help” and “Ella McCay,” both of which will be released by 20th Century Studios. “Send Help,” a horror film with Rachel McAdams, Chris Pang, Dylan O’Brien, and Dennis Haysbert, will open on Jan.
