Roy Keane handed assistant manager offer as potential link-up emerges

Jaap Stam is eager to see former Manchester United team-mate Roy Keane return to management – and has even offered to be his assistant coach.

Keane – who won seven Premier League titles at Old Trafford – hasn't been at the helm of a team since his tenure at Ipswich Town ended in January 2011.

Following that, he has worked as an assistant for the Republic of Ireland, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest, but he has been absent from any touchline duties for nearly six years.

And Stam – who who won the Treble alongside Keane in 1999 – reckons the man from Cork should be back in the game. So much so that the Dutchman is ready to play as his second-in-command if he staged a managerial comeback.
