A man was left injured after being 'pushed off his bike' and assaulted, before he was threatened with a knife in Whalley Range on Thursday evening (January 23).

Police were called to reports of a disturbance on Burford Road at around 7.30pm. Enquiries have suggested a man pushed the victim off his bike before assaulting him.

It is believed the suspect then brandished a knife while threatening other members of the public. When officers arrived, the suspect then began attacking the police car.

A man in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon. The residential road was cordoned off amid investigations.
