Retired Scots solicitor posted false rumours about SNP MP 'police probe' online

A retired solicitor has been found guilty of trying to rig a General Election by posting rumours about a politician being probed by police over nude photos of a woman.SNP MP Chris Law told a court the social media claim was one of around 50 Facebook messages posted by former lawyer and publican John Justice.

Mr Law, 53, told Dundee Sheriff Court he had never taken explicit photographs of a woman without her consent or been investigated by the police.Justice, 67, admitted publicly posting the salacious rumour and said he had heard it in a lounge bar being used as a Labour Party campaign centre.

He posted: "Unbelievable! Watch the news over the next day or two. Chris Law MP now being investigated for taking nude photos without a woman's consent.

You heard it here first."Mr Law told the trial that the Facebook message was posted on the day before the 2019 General Election, which he said had been "quite a negative campaign."He said: "I was made aware of it around 8am.
