A Florida man is facing charges after leaving his dog to die in the Hurricane Milton floods. Earlier this month, the Florida Highway Patrol shared a heartbreaking video on X (Twitter) of a dog mercilessly tied to a fence off Interstate 75 in Tampa and abandoned amid the devastating hurricane.
The dog was stranded in floodwaters up to its chest with no other option than to just stand there and await its fate. It was clearly terrified and reluctant to accept help, too.
But it was ultimately rescued by a state trooper. Thank goodness!! You can watch the video (below) — but be warned, as it’s a pretty saddening sight.
The dog is okay now, and the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles said it’s being affectionately and appropriately referred to as Trooper.
