Recording Academy interim chief Harvey Mason Jr. has issued an apology to Tiffany Haddish after the actress went public with the fact that she had been asked to pay her own way as host of the Grammy Awards pre-show.
Mason Jr. referred to the decision, which came from a talent booker, as a "lapse in judgement." "So it's just been brought to my attention that the Recording Academy invited Tiffany Haddish to host this year's premiere ceremony," said Mason Jr.
in an Instagram video on Thursday. "Unfortunately, without me knowing, a talent booker working for the Academy told Ms. Haddish that we wouldn't even cover her costs while she hosted this event for us.
