A woman tried to sneak onto a plane after she had been refused boarding because her passport was nearly expired. Mistura Alade, 45, and a girl who cannot be named for legal reasons, had booked a flight from Gatwick Airport to Milan.

However Alade had not checked her passport expiry date as travel to EU countries now requires a passport holder to have at least three months left before expiry.

After leaving the boarding area they returned to try and sneak onto a plane and broke through a security door - setting off two alarms.

They also bundled past an airport worker, causing him to fall heavily on a staircase. Join our WhatsApp Top Stories and Breaking News group by clicking this link. They were then detained by police and security within moments of the alarm being activated.
