Steven Gerrard

Steven George Gerrard MBE (born 30 May 1980) is an English professional football manager and former player who manages Scottish Premiership club Rangers.

He spent the majority of his playing career as a central midfielder for Liverpool, with most of that time spent as club captain, as well as captaining the England national team. Widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time,

Gerrard was awarded the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year award in 2005, and the Ballon d'Or Bronze Award. In 2009, Zinedine Zidane and Pelé said that they considered Gerrard to be the best footballer in the world.

Rangers raise £4.5m in share issue but fail to reach their target

Ibrox club had hoped to raise £6.75m from the share issue but have fallen short of that figure, although still raised an impressive number.

The offering was made to supporters across the world at the end of last season and has attracted 5000 new investors. They come from 44 different countries and the Premiership champions say that continues to show how global they are.

Despite failing to reach their initial target, the club have branded the response ‘incredible’ and ‘phenomenal’.They intent on using the money to help create the new Edmiston House and make further improvements on Ibrox.

It’s unlikely that money would be used to improve Steven Gerrard’s squad, though, with it earmarked for general improvements. Get all the latest Rangers.
