Rangers fans stranded in Germany after storms see flights grounded

Dozens of Rangers supporters were stranded abroad after their club's historic win over Borussia Dortmund. The Gers fans were grounded in Germany as they tried to make their way back to Scotland following the Europa League knockout clash.

More than 40 supporters were left stuck at Dusseldorf Airport after a British Airways flight to London was cancelled. The Friday afternoon service was scrapped amid a "Hurricane-force gusts warning" in Germany, and Storm Eunice wreaking havoc on flights arriving in the UK.

One of the affected fans said: "We were told the flight was cancelled and that all connecting flights to Scotland were cancelled."We were left sitting on the ground in Dusseldorf after being told three hours before take-off the flight was scrapped."A British Airways spokesperson said: "Due to the extreme weather conditions across the UK and resulting restrictions on the number of aircraft that can take-off and land each hour, we, like other airlines, are experiencing significant disruption."We're operating as many flights as we can and putting on larger aircraft where possible. "Customers due to travel on a short-haul service today can rebook for free on ba.com. "Those whose flights have been cancelled are being contacted to offer options including a full refund.
