The Queen has launched a sloe gin in royal shops as the palace attempts to plug a £30million black hole in its finances. The Royal Collection Trust which manages the royal palaces has launched the beverage of hand-picked whole sloe berries - available for £30 a bottle.
Promising a product which "which have steeped in Buckingham Palace Gin, giving the sloe gin a unique and intense fruit flavour." The RCT already confirmed it had taken out a £22m loan in the summer, and asked staff to consider voluntary redundancy, but it has proven to not be enough.
Losses may total £30million or more. Launched in 2020, Buckingham Palace Gin is infused with botanicals from the Palace garden including lemon verbena, hawthorn berries, bay leaves and mulberry
