A green space on the border of Trafford and Manchester has yet again become the site of a stand-off between the public and its owners.Protesters gathered at the Trafford end of Ryebank Fields close to Firswood and Chorlton this morning to fight against its owners Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) erecting a permanent fence there to stop people from accessing it.Police confirmed they were called to a disturbance on Ryebank Road in Firswood at 9.10am.MMU’s investigations of the site this year found the presence of dangerous materials at Ryebank Fields, including surface-level asbestos and historic landfill waste, and the university said they are putting up permanent fencing to keep people away from the area.But residents nearby and.
