Princess Diana's former butler Paul Burrell has claimed she once broke down into tears after listening in on a call between himself and BBC journalist Martin Bashir.
Paul explained that Bashir called him every week "in vain" to ask about the Princess of Wales' whereabouts, what she had been up to and if she had been meeting boyfriends in private.
During one of these conversations, Diana had returned home and decided to put her ear next to the phone to hear what Bashir, 58, was asking about. “When he rang that day the princess had just come home, and I kept him on the line in case she wanted to talk to him," Paul told The Sun on Sunday.
