Police are still hunting suspects after 'loud bangs' were heard in a 'targeted' shooting in Levenshulme on Saturday (August 12).
Residents reported hearing gunshots at around midnight, quickly followed by a car speeding away from the scene on Albert Road just moments before officers arrived.
Police said that before the shooting, a vehicle was also damaged by two males, one of them armed with a suspected firearm, who were then seen chasing a third male aged in his 20s. No injuries were reported and no arrests have been made, however a major investigation was immediately launched with a large scene remaining in place overnight and throughout the day on Saturday.
One woman, who lives near to the scene, told the M.E.N she dialled 999 after her mother saw two men - one of whom had a gun and another a machete - chasing after another man. "She heard a lot of arguing and cars honking then the popping sound of the gun," the woman added. "That went two or three times then they ran off.
