Police Scotland chief announces how new Covid travel restrictions will be enforced

Covid lockdown driving rules. In a statement this afternoon, Assistant Chief Constable Alan Speirs also urged people to continue to play their part in stopping the virus from spreading.

The call comes as the First Minister announced that 11 local authorities are to move into the highest protection level. Speaking in parliament this afternoon she outlined the new travel restrictions.They will be put into law to prevent people who live in a Level 3 or Level 4 local authority area from travelling outside their local authority.Exceptions would be if travel was or an essential purpose - such as work or caring responsibilities.The regulations also covers non-essential travel into a Level 3 or 4 local authority area, except for the same.
