A police officer left one colleague in a coma and another unable to return to work after smashing into another patrol car. Liverpool Crown Court heard yesterday (September 5) that Ashleigh McAdams hit another Merseyside Police car which was responding to a separate emergency incident.
The 31-year-old had been driving a marked Peugeot 308 at speeds of up to 81mph through the streets of Liverpool and slowed to 29mph as she proceeded through a red light.
But prosecutors said she failed to give way properly before her car was hit by a Kia, driven by PC Gary Carson, as he drove towards the city centre in response to another 999 call.
The horror smash left one of McAdams' colleagues in intensive care with a bleed on the brain and comatose for days, the Liverpool Echo reports.
