A drink driver who drove into two police officers after downing a bottle of vodka was again caught drunk behind the wheel just months after being disqualified.Carl Williams, 50, was seen 'downing' a bottle of vodka before getting into this car on October 28, 2022, and concerned witnesses called 999.After receiving two calls, PC Sean Dalby and PC Paddy Stewart traced the car on the A59 in Ormskirk.
They signalled the vehicle to stop but when they approached the car, Williams tried to drive off and hit them both.The pair suffered minor injuries but were able to prevent William from leaving the scene, the Liverpool Echo reports.He was found to be over the legal alcohol limit in England of 35 when a breathalyser reading recorded 74.
An empty vodka bottle and a small amount of class A drugs were also found in the car.Williams was charged and released on bail but on May 27 of this year, he was stopped by police in Burscough.
He had been disqualified from driving but was discovered behind the wheel and over the legal alcohol limit.Williams, of Dawson Gardens, Maghull, appeared before Preston Magistrates' Court on September 1.
