A nine-year-old girl who died after she was struck by a tractor while riding her bike has been named locally as Naomi Ferrans.The primary school pupil had been on her bicycle along Castle Place in New Cumnock in Ayrshire on Monday when she was struck by the vehicle at 12.35pm.
Emergency services raced to the collision but the child was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. Police say inquiries remain ongoing to establish the full circumstances.
Following the tragedy, Laura Ferrans, believed to be a family member, paid tribute by changing her profile photo to an image with the youngster on Facebook.
Local community groups have also taken to social media to postpone their upcoming events.The New Cumnock Development Trust said: "In light of the tragic event in our community today, all NCDT activities over the coming week are now cancelled."New Cumnock Baptist Church posted: "After the tragic event in the town today Tuesday Club is cancelled.
