A driver who was arrested after a man was left with 'life-changing' injuries in a hit-and-run has been released while investigations continue, police have confirmed.
The man - aged 34 - was arrested following the incident on Rochdale Road at around 9.25pm on Tuesday night (October 24). A 51-year-old man was walking when he was struck by a vehicle.
The driver initially failed to stop, police said. The vehicle was later found parked nearby and he was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. The victim suffered 'significant injuries believed to be life-changing'. Police appealed for any witnesses to come forward after the crash, particularly anyone with dash-cam footage.
