Police issue update after man shot dead in suspected burglary on rural street

A third man has been arrested by officers investigating a burglary in the High Peak during which two men were shot. One man died and another was seriously injured in the incident Whaley Bridge, close to the Derbyshire border with Greater Manchester, in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday, May 1).

Derbyshire Police said they were alerted to reports of a break-in on Eccles Road in the town at around 1:20am. When they arrived they discovered a man had died.

They have now confirmed he had suffered fatal gunshot wounds. A second man was also found with a gunshot wound nearby in the same road.
