Police evacuate Wythenshawe Forum after 'threats made' to centre

The Forum Centre in Wythenshawe was evacuated this morning after 'threats were made' to the centre. Officers raced to the complex off Simonsway just before 9.30am today (Tuesday) after 'receiving a report that threats had been made'.

People were evacuated from inside the building as police arrived on the scene. A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said that 'there is not believed to have been any genuine threat' to the Forum or to the wider area in the Wythenshawe.

Councillor Astrid Johnson, a Green who represents the Woodhouse Park ward which covers the affected area, said her 'first concern was for the safety of residents' as the incident unfolded this morning.
