Police descended on a street in Withington on Sunday (May 21) following unconfirmed reports of a stabbing. Heysham Avenue and Halebank Avenue were cordoned off and an air ambulance is understood to have landed in a field nearby after the reported attack.
A number of officers remained at the police tape as crime scene investigators and detectives conducted investigations throughout Sunday evening. Others claimed that at least one victim had been stabbed in the neck. One woman, who lives on adjoining Golborne Avenue told the M.E.N: "I was in my living room and just heard the sirens and saw police flying down the road.
A helicopter was flying over my house and landed nearby. "I saw young lads running down the road and when I came out, everyone was in the street.
