Police arrest man following 'disturbance' as brawl spills out onto the street

Police arrested a man on suspicion of assault after a brawl spilled out onto the street. Officers were called to Old Market Street in Blackley just before 11pm yesterday after reports of a 'disturbance'.

There officers held a man in his 20s on suspicion of section 18 assault. He is being questioned and remains in police custody.

Residents reported seeing a large response from police and paramedics. A GMP spokesperson said: "At around 10.55pm on Friday 17 May 2024, we were called to reports of an ongoing disturbance on Old Market Street in Blackley, Manchester. "A man in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of a Section 18 assault and remains in police custody for questioning.
