Officers have beefed up their presence in part of Salford after a group were seen 'fighting with knives'. Greater Manchester Police says it received reports of the group fighting on on Cleggs Lane, in Little Hulton, at around midday yesterday (May 22).
It was initially believed to have followed an attempted robbery, but GMP is investigating the incident as affray. The extent of any injuries suffered in the incident is not currently known.
A 24-year-old man was arrested a short time later on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon, affray and burglary. He remains in custody for questioning this afternoon (Thursday). READ MORE: He fled to the UK but his new life ended in tragedy and a murder investigation Detective Inspector Michael Sharples, of GMP's Salford district, said: “Since the report yesterday we have moved at pace to try and identify those responsible and know people in the area will have access to dash cam footage in particular in the moments leading up to and during the altercation.
At this time, we believe three people are outstanding and we are actively working with the resources available to us to track them down. “Patrols have been increased in the immediate area to keep you safe in the meantime as we understand this news will shock the local community.
