Police apologise for 'early morning wake up' after helicopter sent to Tesco

Greater Manchester Police have apologised to residents in parts of Salford after sending out a helicopter early this morning (February 13).

The police helicopter was used as the force responded to reports of a burglary at a Tesco Express. Officers were called out to the scene in Liverpool Road, Irlam at 4.15am and arrested two men, aged 41 and 24, who remain in custody.

The shop was closed at the time of the incident. A window was boarded up at the front of the store with an area taped off outside.

Residents in Irlam and Urmston reported hearing a police helicopter circling above the area in the early hours of the morning.
