One lane of the eastbound M602 had to be closed while police and paramedics dealt with the incident. Langworthy Road, where it crosses the motorway also had to be closed.
An 'intoxicated male' with an injury to his wrist was found at the side of the motorway hard shoulder. He was treated at the scene by paramedics and spoken to by police officers.
Langworthy Road and the M602 were fully re-opened by 6am, Transport for Greater Manchester Confirmed, although a police investigation is continuing.
