Plans for huge student accommodation block - 11 storeys taller than before

A new 28-storey tower block touted for student housing in the city centre has been formally submitted to Manchester council.

The Block C tower, planned for First Street, would deliver 555 student bed spaces to the area split between cluster bedrooms and studios, if approved.

This is one of the four blocks in the Downing development which hoped to bring thousands of new student homes to the city centre.

The £450m scheme was 'reluctantly' given the green light three years ago.
