Dimitar Berbatov believes Manchester United will sign a new striker this year but has warned Erik ten Hag to choose carefully.

Anthony Martial and Rasmus Hojlund have only netted a combined two Premier League goals this season with the former likely to exit in the next two windows.

United do not plan to extend Martial’s contract ahead of its summer expiry date. However, Ten Hag may keep hold of the Frenchman beyond this month, despite it being the last opportunity to get a return on him, due to the club’s limited transfer kitty.

United are hesitant to spend much this month amid fears over breaking Financial Fair Play concerns.
