Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan has praised Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, following the news that the Queen has expressed she would like her to have the title of Queen Consort when Prince Charles becomes King.Camilla, 74, married into the Royal Family 17 years ago amid a lot of controversy surrounding her relationship with Charles after Princess Diana’s tragic death.

Now, the Queen has openly endorsed Camilla, which her eldest son Prince Charles has described as a deep honour for both him and his “darling wife”.In his most recent article, Piers has explained why Camilla is “best suited” for the job, whilst once again taking the opportunity to aim jibes at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The journalist explained how Camilla and himself had been on good terms for many years, remembering a time when he bought her painting of a rhinoceros from a charity auction in 2002.

Piers went on to use a memory of attending a celeb-packed Christmas lunch at Fortnum and Mason to exemplify why he felt Camilla would make a great Queen Consort.

In his column for The Sun’s Fabulous, he remembered Camilla’s humorous reaction after he asked if she was feeling "disconcerted" by Chris Evans dressing up as a “gigantic purple Christmas tree” for the meal. She went on to admonish Piers, confirming that she was not offended, because the outfit was “very tame”, which seemed to impress the former Mirror editor. "Her amused reaction – I can think of a few snobbish royals who’d have got very snotty about such sartorial effrontery  – said everything you need to know about the woman just formally endorsed by the Queen as the next person to hold that historic title when Prince Charles becomes King,” he wrote. He went on to explain that he had known.
