Charles, Prince of Wales (Charles Philip Arthur George; born 14 November 1948) is the heir apparent to the British throne as the eldest son of Elizabeth II. He has been Duke of Cornwall and Duke of Rothesay since 1952, and he is the oldest and longest-serving heir apparent in British history.
He is also the longest-serving Prince of Wales, having held that title since 1958. Charles was born at Buckingham Palace as the first grandchild of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. He was educated at Cheam and Gordonstoun schools, which his father, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, had attended as a child. Charles also spent a year at the Timbertop campus of Geelong Grammar School in Victoria, Australia.

After his marriage to Princess Margaret in 1960, Lord Snowdon - whose real name was Antony Armstrong-Jones - was granted unparalleled access to the royal family.
He unveiled his first official portrait photo of the future Princess of Wales in the late 1980s, when she was two months into her relationship with her future husband, Prince Charles. The image of Diana wearing an Elizabeth Emanuel blouse, which perfectly matched her blue eyes, was released to the media when the couple formally announced their engagement in February 1981.
In another photograph of the set, Diana, then 19, was shown lovingly draping her arms around her fiancé Charles, then 32. Lord Snowdon was also responsible for one of the most recognised images of the young family, which included their two young children, Prince William and Prince Harry.
