Phillip Schofield remains a Best Presenter nominee at the National Television Awards, despite his departure from ITV and admission of an affair with a much younger male colleague.

The blunder was pointed out by comedian Mark Grimshaw, who took to Twitter to poke fun at the situation. The Manchester-based stand-up wrote: "Just throwing it out there that voting is currently open on the National TV Awards, and Phillip Schofield is still nominated for Best Presenter, if anyone wants to help the funniest possible outcome happen in September." Phillip is in the running for the gong alongside the likes of Love Island narrator Iain Sterling, Rylan and a number of his former This Morning colleagues, including Holly Willoughby.

On Friday night, the 61 year old confessed in a statement to having an affair with a younger male colleague during his marriage to wife, Stephanie Lowe, whom he shares two children with, Molly, 30 and Ruby, 27.

Phillip was dropped by his agents and issued an apology for the relationship, saying he is "deeply sorry" about the "consensual on-off relationship".
